Overview
The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship (AU EGLS) provides full coverage of tuition, room and board for an international undergraduate student, with additional partial awards of up to US$40,000 per year. It aims to increase global diversity by supporting students who have faced significant challenges and come from under‑represented socioeconomic backgrounds. The award is renewable for up to four years provided academic performance remains satisfactory.
Who can apply
- International student who has overcome substantial obstacles and comes from a diverse or under‑represented background.
- Minimum GPA of 3.8/4.0 (or top 10% of class) for grades 9‑12.
- Demonstrated leadership, community service and commitment to improving conditions in the home country.
- Must meet at least one of the following test scores:
* TOEFL iBT ≥ 95 (all subscores ≥ 20)
* Paper‑based TOEFL ≥ 24 (after 31 May 2023)
* IELTS ≥ 7.0 (all subscores ≥ 6.0)
* SAT Reading ≥ 33
* ACT English ≥ 29
* PTE ≥ 65
* Duolingo ≥ 125 (all subscores ≥ 115)
* Cambridge English ≥ 185 (each sub‑score ≥ 169)
- Currently enrolled in secondary/high school and set to graduate by June 2025.
- IB students must plan to graduate with a full IB diploma and at least three HL subjects; A‑Level students must complete at least three A‑Levels and 13 years of study before August 2025.
