Overview
The University of Calgary offers fully funded graduate positions for MSc and PhD candidates at its Smart Building Materials Lab. Successful applicants receive tuition coverage, a living stipend and mentorship while working on sustainable infrastructure research. The programme targets students from any country who meet the academic and technical requirements. Positions start in the fall term of 2027.
Who can apply
- Holds a BSc in civil, environmental, materials, chemical engineering or a closely related field for PhD consideration
- Holds an MSc in a relevant discipline if applying for a PhD
- MSc applicants must have a relevant bachelor’s degree with strong grades
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 for PhD candidates and 3.5/4.0 for MSc candidates
- Demonstrates proficiency in Python and analytical/computational techniques
- Possesses relevant research or technical experience
- Preferred: experience with SEM, micro‑CT, FTIR, specimen manufacturing, embedded sensors, machine learning, life‑cycle assessment, or peer‑reviewed publications
